This Super Anti-inflammatory juice recipe helps the body manage inflammation.
Inflammation is the body’s attempt to protect itself by removing harmful stimuli, such as damaged cells, irritants, or pathogens in order to begin the healing process. When something harmful or irritating affects a part of our body, the body’s biological response is to try to remove it. Therefore, the symptoms of inflammation show that the body is trying to heal itself.
The difference between acute inflammation and chronic inflammation is that Acute inflammation signs and / or symptoms are present for a few days, but in some cases may last for a few weeks. Chronic inflammation is long-term and can last for several months or years. Beet and ginger are just two of many anti-inflammatory ingredients that help to manage chronic inflammation.
When everything is (more or less) in balance, your body’s reactions are just a natural way to preserve this equilibrium if things get slightly askew. Inflammation, for example, can be a very useful reaction that aims to protect us. The problem starts when it becomes a chronic state. Chronic inflammation has been linked to the development of some serious conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes.
Problems with losing weight can be attributed to chronic inflammation, too. Certain foods work in a strong anti-inflammatory way and it’s great when you can combine them in a nutritious and delicious anti-inflammatory drink.
Beets and Chronic Inflammation
Beets contain a high proportion of phytonutrients that act in an anti-inflammatory way, prevent diseases and help your body stay on track. Compounds with the strongest anti-inflammatory potential include betanin, isobetanin, and vulgaxanthin. These are all betalains – red and yellow pigments that give beets their distinct color.
Ginger and Chronic Inflammation
Ginger contains strong anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols, which are particularly good for dealing with muscle and arthritis-related pain. Gingerols are chemically related to capsaicin and piperine, which give chili peppers and black pepper their respective spicy kick and healing potential. Ginger is also one of the ingredients in my anti-inflammatory turmeric ginger tea.
